Since the last time I posted we've had a few events happen at and around Zion. For example, our "Pray First" series has wrapped up... but I'm hoping (and praying!) that we'll continue our journey towards being a church that "sees God do amazing things in response to the prayers of His people."
With that in mind, let me encourage you to KEEP ON PRAYING! Pray simple prays... use the "Beats of Prayer"... join me on Mondays at noon to pray... ask 3 people/week how you can pray for them... pray first... and pray often! Then take the time to share about how God is responding to your prayers!
The other thing that has happened is the Doing Family Right Conference. I think I speak on behalf of everyone who was involved in the Doing Family Right weekend when I say that it was an amazing event. I really believe that the even had a positive impact on families here in Terrace... and I'm praying that the impact will continue.
So, in keeping with the theme of this prayer blog, let me say that I know that God answered my prayers about the Doing Family Right Conference. I was praying that families would be strengthened, that parents would be encouraged, that husbands and wives would choose to refocus on their relationships with one another and, most importantly, that families would choose to follow Jesus even closer than they were before.
God has done some amazing things in response to our prayers about the weekend... how else have you seen Him answering prayers? Why not share about that in the comments section?
We've started into our "Pray First" series. We'll be taking time to look at prayer: what it is, how we can pray, why we find it challenging to pray etc.
The big vision is that Zion would become a church where God does amazing things as He responds to the prayers of His people... or, to personalize it a bit more, that Zion would be a church where God does amazing things in response to our prayers.
But... if we're going to see God do amazing things in response to our prayers then I think we have to do a few things.
First, we've got to be praying. That seems pretty straightforward, right? The need to be praying is why we're looking at "Pray First" together. I want prayer to become our "default setting" (based, in many ways, on 1 Thessalonians 5:17 which says "Never stop praying").
We also have to be praying for one another - which means we have to be sharing our prayer requests with one another.
Finally, we need to share about how God has answered our prayers - we need to tell each other when God does something amazing in response to our prayer.
That's where this blog comes in... I want to encourage you to share your prayer requests and the ways God answers your prayers. Include them in the comments section. Share about how we can pray for each other... keep us updated when God answers your prayers.
I want us to be a church that prays first... and I want us to share our prayer stories!
