At Zion we believe that baptism is an important step in the life of a follower of Jesus. Although we understand that faith in Jesus alone is what saves us, we recognize the importance of obeying what God calls us to do. 

Jesus told his followers to "Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit." Disciples (followers) of Jesus are expected to be baptized as a way of publicly declaring their faith in Jesus. 

We practice believer's baptism. That means you have to be old enough to make a decision to follow Jesus. This is a personal choice, that only you can make. We baptize by full immersion, which we believe best follows the example set by Jesus and the disciples.

At Zion we recognize that faith in Jesus makes you a member of His Church. However, we also know that it is important to identify with a local church. So, we encourage people to become official members of Zion Baptist Church. 

Members are those who have been baptized by immersion and who agree with our statement of faith, and ministry covenant.
